We're here to support you every step of the way. From issues that arise during puberty, midlife, or associated with older age, we’re committed to being a part of your journey of better health and well-being. So, don't just accept these issues as something you have to deal with. Let us help you find the solutions you need to live a comfortable and fulfilling life.
I can manage, and treat a wide range of injuries associated with the musculoskeletal system, including low back pain, neck pain, frozen shoulder, joint replacement, bursitis/tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis /golfers elbow, plantar fasciitis, post-arthroscopic surgery, knee pain, piriformis syndrome, TMJ syndrome, and thoracic outlet syndrome.
Orthopedic therapy, a specialized branch of physical therapy, focuses on the management, and treatment of acute, chronic, traumatic, and overuse injuries, and other musculoskeletal disorders.
Throughout your treatment, I'll also provide education on self-care during your recovery process and offer guidance on preventing future injuries.
My goal is to design a program specifically tailored to your injury, enabling you to regain maximum functional ability and help you get back to living your life to the fullest.
We use a variety of techniques to help pregnant people and new parents, including soft tissue mobilization, muscle energy techniques, therapeutic exercise, biomechanical evaluation, and postural training. With the right care and attention, physical therapy can help alleviate much of the pain and discomfort that comes with pregnancy and giving birth.
During pregnancy, it's common to experience pain and discomfort due to hormonal changes, weight gain, and shifts in posture. This can lead to issues like back, hip, or pelvic pain, as well as urinary incontinence.
After giving birth, new mothers may face their own set of challenges, including pelvic girdle pain, urinary or fecal leakage, painful sex, and even neck and shoulder pain. Many of these issues can relate back to weakness in the abdominals like diastasis rectus abdominis (DRA), or weakness or tears in the pelvic floor muscles.
Thankfully, physical therapy can be a game-changer for those experiencing problems during pregnancy or postpartum recovery. Change to: I take a comprehensive approach to
pre- and post-natal PT, including head-to-toe assessment and treatment. This may involve postural training, joint alignment, muscle strengthening exercises, and flexibility exercises.
Wellness services are available for improving strength, flexibility, and overall fitness.
They also can be used for some pelvic floor-related issues if they are ONLY related to exercise (e.g. you only have urinary leakage when you run). Wellness services are also available for prevention - such as learning how to prevent an old injury from flaring up, what the best labor and delivery positions are to prevent perineal tearing, or how to prevent the decline of gains made during physical therapy treatment.
Wellness services are NOT available for the treatment of pain, or any ailment or injury. These issues would fall under physical therapy services.
An annual physical with your primary care physician doesn't focus on your musculoskeletal system. That's where physical therapists come in. We're experts in assessing biomechanics of your body and help ensure you're not experiencing any underlying issues that could prevent you from doing the activities you love.
During your yearly checkup, we'll assess joint range of motion, flexibility, and strength, and perform more specific assessments as needed based on your results. If necessary, we'll provide a corrective exercise program, activity modifications, or a round of PT, and your check-up is tailored to you and your daily activities and goals.
Whether you're looking to ensure you're doing your exercises correctly, preparing to start working out, or improve your strength or flexibility, an annual PT check-up helps address any issues in advance.
We'll check your joint and spine mobility, flexibility, and strength, and perform an overall movement assessment.
Telehealth is divided into two categories: PT and Wellness, and virtual visits are gaining popularity due to their numerous benefits. While in-person visits may still be necessary in certain situations, telehealth care offers the following advantages:
I cannot see anyone for PT via telehealth outside of the state of Illinois.
Note: If someone is seeing me via telehealth for wellness, then they must follow the same rules as the general wellness section (can’t be for pain or an injury).
Physical therapy (aka physiotherapy) services are offered for treatment of pregnancy and post-partum aches and pains, childbirth injuries, or recovering from surgery. They are also offered for pelvic floor-related issues such as incontinence, constipation, painful sex (dyspareunia), gender affirmation surgeries, and much more. See our
“What is Pelvic Health PT?” page for more info.
And YES you can attend physical therapy with me for treatment of non-pelvic health conditions, such as lower back pain or neck pain!
Limited sliding scale and pro bono sessions are available for those in need.
